AI Readiness Score Explained: The Five Areas That Decide Whether AI Can Use Your Site

The AI Readiness Score is a site-wide check of five areas, and each area gets its own score. That shows you which one is holding your site back in AI search, instead of handing you one number to guess from.

It is the wider companion to the one-page AI Search Visibility Checker, and it works on the same goal: making a site easy for AI to find, use and describe correctly. That goal has a name, AI search visibility.

The AI Readiness Score rates a site on five areas so you can see which one is holding it back in AI search. Here is what each area checks and what a manual assessment delivers.

The Five Areas of the AI Readiness Score

Every area asks one plain question about your site. The table also shows which part of AI search visibility the area protects.

#AreaThe question it asksPart of AI search visibility it protects
1Semantic ClarityDoes the content say its topic, its entities and its purpose directly?Cited, and accurately represented
2Entity StrengthAre the brand, products, services and people named the same way everywhere and connected to each other?Accurately represented
3Structured DataDo the facts in the markup match what a visitor can read on the page?Cited, and accurately represented
4Retrieval AccessCan AI crawl the pages, index them, find the right URL and reach them through internal links?Retrieved
5Visibility DataAre impressions, citations, crawler requests, visits and inquiries measured separately? All three, because it is how you know

Reading across the last column tells you something useful. Retrieval Access is the only area that is purely about the first part. Everything else helps with citation and accuracy, which is why a site can be fully crawlable and still be described wrongly.

How the AI Readiness Score Connects to AI Search Visibility

AI search visibility has three parts: the page is retrieved, the page is cited and the page is accurately represented. The readiness score does not measure those outcomes directly. It measures the conditions that let them happen, across the whole site instead of one page.

That is the difference between readiness and visibility. Readiness is what you build. Visibility is what you get to observe afterward.

How a Manual AI Readiness Assessment Works

A site-wide score cannot come from a single page, so the assessment is done by a person reading the site. The review covers:

  • Representative templates, so one fix can be traced to every page that uses it.
  • Priority pages, the ones that should bring in visitors or inquiries.
  • Search demand, and which page owns the answer to each important question.
  • Structured data, checked against what the page says.
  • Internal links and the relationships between pages.
  • Data from Search Console, analytics and server logs, where it is available.

The one-page checker covers a lot of the same ground for a single URL. The assessment adds the part a checker cannot do: seeing which templates and pages create the biggest gaps.

What You Receive From an AI Readiness Assessment

A manual assessment delivers four things:

  1. A score for each of the five areas, with the data behind it.
  2. The pages and templates creating the largest visibility gap.
  3. A prioritized fix list, split into technical, content, entity and measurement work.
  4. A baseline, so the same checks can be repeated after the fixes are in.

The baseline is the quiet winner. Without one, an improvement is just a feeling.

Why Visibility Data Is Its Own Area in the AI Readiness Score

It is tempting to fold everything into one visibility number. The readiness score refuses to, because each signal answers a different question and none of them can stand in for another.

SignalWhat it showsWhat it does not show
ImpressionsGoogle listed the page in results. That anyone clicked, or that AI used the page.
CitationsAn AI tool showed the page as a source on a tested question. That every visitor sees the same answer.
Crawler requestsA bot fetched a URL, as recorded in server logs. That the page was used in an answer.
VisitsA person arrived at the site. That they wanted what you offer.
InquiriesA person asked to work with you.Which earlier step caused it.

Our own five-site crawler study shows why this matters. Crawler requests and search impressions did not move together, so treating either one as the other would have given the wrong answer.

What the AI Readiness Score Does Not Prove

A readiness score does not prove that an AI tool will cite a page, that a crawler request produced an answer or that an impression became a visit. It points to specific conditions you can improve and the data to watch next. The value is in the findings under the number, not the number by itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the AI Readiness Score?

It is a site-wide check of five areas that decide whether AI can find, use and describe a site correctly. Each area gets its own score, so you can see which one to fix first.

What does the AI Readiness Score measure?

It scores semantic clarity, entity strength, structured data, retrieval access and visibility data. Semantic clarity asks whether content states its topic directly. Entity strength asks whether names are consistent. Structured data asks whether markup matches the page. Retrieval access covers crawling and discovery. Visibility data keeps five signals separate.

What is the difference between the AI Readiness Score and the AI Search Visibility Checker?

The checker is free, automatic and reads one page. The readiness score covers the whole site, is done by a person and scores five areas with the data behind each one. Most people start with the checker and ask for the readiness score when the problem looks bigger than one page.

Does a high AI readiness score mean AI will cite my site?

No. A high score means the conditions for being found, cited and described correctly are in place. Whether an AI tool cites the site still depends on the question, the tool and the competing pages.

How is the AI Readiness Score different from an AI Symantix Audit?

The readiness score rates the site on five areas. The audit goes further with a written review, a prioritized fix list and an hour with Krisada, and it also covers search demand and the steps from a visit to an inquiry.
