How to Check AI Search Visibility: Five Tools and What Each One Tells You
To check AI search visibility, test three things: whether AI can retrieve your page, whether it cites the page, and whether it describes you correctly. No single tool tests all three, so you pick the tool that matches the question you have.
This guide maps our five tools to those three parts, tells you which to start with and says plainly what none of them can see. The definition behind it is in the AI search visibility glossary entry.
Five tools check five different things. Match your question to the tool that answers it, then see what none of them can show.
The Three Parts of AI Search Visibility You Can Check
AI search visibility is how reliably AI tools find, use and describe your content. That breaks into three checks you can run in order:
- Retrieved: can AI reach the page and read it?
- Cited: does an AI tool show the page as a source when someone asks a question it answers?
- Accurately represented: when AI talks about you, is it right?
The order matters. A page that cannot be retrieved cannot be cited, and a page that is cited can still be described wrongly. The related idea of being chosen as the answer is covered in answer engine visibility.
Which Tool Checks Which Part of AI Search Visibility
Each tool looks at a different slice. The table shows how much of each part it can actually see.
| # | Tool | What it looks at | Retrieved | Cited | Accurately represented |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | AI Search Visibility Checker | One page, 15 automatic checks | Tests it directly | Tests whether the page is built to be cited | Tests whether the page is built to be described correctly |
| 2 | AI bot data | Crawler requests in your server logs | Shows that crawlers came | Cannot see it | Cannot see it |
| 3 | AI Readiness Score | The whole site, in five areas | Retrieval Access area | Semantic Clarity and Structured Data areas | Entity Strength and Structured Data areas |
| 4 | Search Visibility Index and CTR by position | Where Google lists your pages and how often people click | Indirectly | Cannot see it | Cannot see it |
| 5 | AI Symantix Audit | The site, your data and the route to an inquiry | Reviews it | Reviews it, with a person reading answers | Reviews it, with a person reading answers |
Read down the Cited and Described columns. Only the tools that put a person in front of the answers can say anything about them. The automatic tools check whether the page is ready. They do not watch the outcome.
Where to Start Checking AI Search Visibility
Start with the cheapest tool that answers your question.
- Run the free AI Search Visibility Checker on your most important page. It takes a minute and shows whether the page itself has a problem.
- Look at your server logs or hosting dashboard for crawler requests to that page. If nothing came, the problem is access, not content.
- Ask two or three AI tools the question the page answers. Note whether your page appears and what is said about you.
- If the problem looks bigger than one page, ask for the AI Readiness Score or the AI Symantix Audit.
What Each Tool Costs and Who It Is For
| Tool | Cost | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| AI Search Visibility Checker | Free | You want to know what is wrong with one page right now. |
| AI bot data | Free to read on our study pages, and your own logs cost nothing | You published something new and want to know if crawlers found it. |
| Search Visibility Index and CTR by position | Free, public data | You want to know whether your impressions can turn into clicks. |
| AI Readiness Score | Ask for a manual assessment | The checker exposed a problem that looks site-wide. |
| AI Symantix Audit | $299 to $999, scope agreed first | You need a person to decide what to fix first. |
How to Check Whether AI Cites You
No tool can look at every AI answer for you, because answers change with the question, the tool and the day. What works is a small, repeatable test:
- Write down five questions your page answers, in the words a customer would use.
- Ask each one in at least two AI tools.
- Record whether you were cited, whether you were linked and what was said about you.
- Repeat the same five questions after you make a change, so you can compare.
It is slow, and it is the only way to see the outcome. The tools above improve your odds. The test tells you whether they worked.
What No AI Search Visibility Tool Can Tell You
None of these tools can promise a citation, and none can show every answer an AI tool gives. A high checker score means the page is ready. It does not mean a tool will choose it. Treat any product that promises a guaranteed AI ranking with caution.
Search numbers are a separate measurement. If you also want to know how you do in Google, start with search visibility and What Is Search Visibility?. The difference between the two is laid out in AI Search Visibility vs. Search Visibility.

How do I check my AI search visibility?
Test three things in order: whether AI can retrieve your page, whether it cites the page and whether it describes you correctly. Run the free checker on one page first. Then ask two or three AI tools the question the page answers and note what they say.
Is there a tool that shows every AI answer that mentions my site?
No tool can see every answer. Answers change with the question, the tool and the day. The practical test is to ask a fixed set of questions in several AI tools and compare the answers over time.
Which AI search visibility tool should I start with?
Start with the free AI Search Visibility Checker on your most important page. It takes about a minute and shows whether the page itself has a problem. Move to the readiness score or the audit when the problem looks site-wide.
Does a high checker score mean AI will cite my page?
No. A high score means the page is built so AI can reach it, quote it and tell who published it. Whether a tool cites it depends on the question and the competing pages.
Can Google Search Console show my AI search visibility?
Not directly. Search Console shows where Google lists your pages and how often people click. It does not show whether another AI tool cited or described you.
