Validation Answers Different Questions
The Rich Results Test checks whether a page can support Google-specific search features. The Schema Markup Validator checks the broader schema.org graph. A page can pass one test and still contain inaccurate or misleading declarations.
Use both layers. Validate syntax and supported properties, then compare the graph with the visible page. Confirm that names, prices, authors, dates, ratings, availability, and relationships are current and visible.
What a Passing Test Does Not Establish
