AI Search Visibility Score
Also known as: AI visibility score, AI visibility index, AI search visibility report
An AI search visibility score is an attempt to quantify something that traditional rank tracking was never built to measure: how retrievable and citable a site is to AI systems, rather than where it ranks on a results page. Because AI retrieval draws on multiple signals at once, a meaningful score is necessarily a composite rather than a single number pulled from one source. The components most commonly rolled into an AI search visibility score include: structured data and schema markup coverage across key pages, entity clarity (whether the brand and its key concepts are unambiguously defined and consistently named), citation and mention frequency in AI-generated answers for relevant queries, knowledge graph presence, and the availability of machine-readable identity files (such as llm.txt or manifest.json) that let AI crawlers verify who a site belongs to. No single authoritative AI search visibility score exists industry-wide the way domain rating or a search-engine ranking position does. Tools and agencies that publish one are generally scoring against their own methodology, so a score is most useful as a before-and-after signal for a single site's progress rather than a number to compare across competing tools. Treat it as a directional audit output, not a certified metric.
